Cardano’s Hydra Scaling Solution Soars with Latest v.0.16.0 Release

  • Last week, Cardano released Hydra v.0.16.0, the latest version of the scaling solution that supports cardano-node v.8.9.0 and the corresponding Conway block format.
  •  Other developments included a new version of the Lace wallet, while the Mithril team furthered its work in scaling the signature and proof generation for the mainnet.

The Cardano ecosystem continues to develop and improve and as the latest weekly development report reveals, there were new releases to the Hydra scaling solution and the Lace Web3 wallet, as well as continued development and testing on multiple other products.

Last week, the Hydra team released Hydra v.0.16.0. The new version supports cardano-node v.8.9.0 and consequently, integrates the Conway block format. According to the weekly report, the team also updated some Hydra clients, including Kupo and Hydraw, making them compatible with the new Hydra API format.

As Crypto News Flash reported, Hydra is Cardano’s layer 2 scaling solution that aims to increase transaction speed by offering high throughput, low latency, and the lowest costs. Last year, Cardano launched the first mainnet-compatible Hydra node in a major step towards scaling to a million transactions per second.

Hydra will take Cardano to a new level, and as such, it has been the subject of criticism and FUD from Cardano’s detractors. Last month, founder Charles Hoskinson had to come out on social media to refute claims that the team was abandoning Hydra.

“I guess it’s that time of the cycle where everyone freaks out about Cardano’s potential and roadmap, so they throw a wave of FUD at us,” Hoskinson noted.

Beyond Hydra, other core teams were hard at work in the past week. The team behind the Lace Web3 wallet released Lace v.1.10 whose features include:

  • A simpler onboarding experience that cuts down the time required for wallet creation and account recovery.
  • A revamped dApp wallet experience focusing on security.
  • Enhanced staking views that offer sorting options and an improved search.

The Mithril team was hard at work as well, and last week, it focused on implementing the certification of Cardano transactions in Mithril networks. A majority of the effort was on scaling the signature and proof generation for the mainnet. It also completed the incremental transactions storage feature and worked on a prototype for decentralizing signer registration with the relay and a P2P network.

On April 26, Cardano will hold an event in Barcelona, Spain, where the team behind Project Catalyst will launch Fund12. You can register here to attend the event in person or livestream it from any part of the world.

As Crypto News Flash reported, Project Catalyst—a growth engine and grant program for the Cardano ecosystem—launched Fund11 in January with 50 million ADA tokens to fund community ideas.
